Since 1960, La Rabida Children's Hospital has hosted a Thanksgiving Day feast for hundreds of patients, families and members of the community. Managing groups of volunteers and staff members, I planned and executed this robust event, provided a script for hospital leaders and secured national print, digital and radio coverage.
It is tradition for staff, donors and community members go to great lengths to make Christmas extra special for children who are hospitalized at La Rabida. For decades, Santa has arrived on an Engine 63 fire truck to hand-deliver gifts to every child while families, donors and the media look on. From planning to execution, I organized this event with several groups of stakeholders and handled media relations from pitch to publication.
On Easter Sunday in 2017, every major news outlet stopped by La Rabida to capture the smiles on our patients' faces when the Easter Bunny arrived with gifts in tow. I coordinated this special visit with clinicians and supported media relations.
When a local radio station and grocery store chain partnered for a card drive for the kids of La Rabida on Valentine's Day, hundreds of people around the metro area took the initiative to heart. Internally, I handled the distribution of thousands of cards to patients and decorated rooms before sharing the heartwarming results across social media.
